U.S. Exchanges: Investors Wait And See Wall Street Closed Mixed

United States stock exchange closed mixed in trade Tuesday (10/1/2017) because of weakening oil prices depress energy stocks, offsetting the strengthening of health and financial sectors.

Index Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down weakened 31.85 points or 0.16% on the level of 19,855.53, while the Standard Poor’s 500 index & unchanged at 2,268.9 and the Nasdaq Composite rose 20 points or 0.36% to 5,551.82.

The energy sector index S&P end up weakening 0.95% because oil futures down 2% amid doubts about trimming production.

Dow Jones still hasn’t been able to break through the level of 20,000 due to stock decline encumbered by IBM, Merck & Co., Exxon Mobil and Procter & Gamble.

As reported by Reuters, investors still be wait and see toward the season’s performance reports and the inauguration of President U.S. issuers to January 20.

After that, investors await whether President Donald Trump will fulfill campaign promises about fiscal stimulus, tax cuts, and deregulation.

“Investors are currently waiting for the inauguration and the first 100-day agenda,” said Nicholas Colas, ConvergEx, Chief Analyst of Reuters was quoted as saying.
